A&E Cycle South

From San Diego to Tierra Del Fuego

Our adventure began in San Diego and wound its way south along the Pan American Highway to Lima, Peru.  We have pedaled our fully loaded tandem over 8500 kilometers and through 10 different countries.

Yes, the above paragraph has changed. The tense is no longer prospective future but now a matter of documented history. We have been on top of that bike for hundreds or hours since departing from San Diego four and a half months ago. At this point it is hard to wrap our heads around what this trip has meant to us and how it will be remembered, but the places we have seen, the interactions shared, the people met, the hardships and the ecstatic joy are easily recalled. What it comes down to is that we are ready for something different. No one wants to be chained to a desk, car seat, or bicycle unwillingly and we have lost the desire (for the time being) to continue cycling. We look forward to a change in our routine as we continue south by other means. You can read more about our upcoming plans in the last journal entry. We will continue to update this website under a new journal tab indicating life post-bicycle. We appreciate everyone's support for us and interest in our trip.

Much love and aloha to all of our family and friends!
